Dr. Peter Giacobbi received his B.A. in psychology from the State University of New York, at Oswego in 1993, an M.S. in sport studies from Miami University (Ohio) in 1997, and a Ph.D. in education with an emphasis in sport and exercise psychology from the University of Tennessee in 2000. Prior to his arrival in CPASS, Giacobbi was an assistant professor in public health at the University of Arizona (2008-2012) and in the College of Health and Human Performance at the University of Florida (2000-2008).

Giacobbi’s research focuses on psycho-educational antecedents and health outcomes related to physical activity behavior. He has used qualitative and qualitative research methods. More recently, his work involves the use of randomized controlled trials to test theory-based multi-behavior interventions targeting diet, exercise, and psycho-social stress. Giacobbi has published 85 peer-reviewed publications and his work is regularly cited by researchers from around the world. In his personal time, he enjoys walking his dog, training in the martial arts, and public health advocacy.
