West Virginia Foundation for Rape Information and Services (WV FRIS)

WV FRIS is the state’s sexual assault coalition. They work with all allied professionals to strengthen services and develop intervention and prevention programs to address sexual violence, stalking and dating violence. On their site you will find a wealth of information regarding these topics.

For example, here are some facts:

In West Virginia:

Nearly 82% of all sexual assaults were committed by someone known to the victim.

7.4% of these were committed by an intimate partner.

Most (70%) of sex offenses were reported to have occurred at a residence or home.

West Virginia Coalition Against Domestic Violence

The  WVCADV is a statewide network of community-based domestic violence programs working to end personal and institutional violence in the lives of women, children and men. They aim to transform attitudes in ways that promote values of respect and non-violence through public awareness, policy development, community organizing, advocacy, training & technical assistance, and collaborative projects.
